Proven          Professional          Supportive
Our overnight children's bereavement camp addresses the special needs of grieving children ages 6 to 12.
We offer children a safe environment in which they can gain an understanding of grief and loss. Children learn ways to cope with their grief through workshops and activities, building skills that may help them now and throughout their lives.
Grief workshops are balanced with recreation activities, such as horseback riding, ropes course challenges and bowling, so the children feel free to have fun and just be kids.
Master level social workers, grief professionals, and trained volunteers supervise and support your child during the camp. To ensure each child receives plenty of personal attention, no more than two children are assigned to a volunteer buddy. Each buddy stays with his or her assigned child throughout the camp, including in the cabins at night.
For medical assistance, a camp nurse is available for first aid. All staff and volunteers are screened and have undergone an extensive background check.
Because of the generosity of our community, our camp is underwritten by supporters of hospice and particularly children who have suffered a loss through death of a loved one. With such support, we are able to offer our camp at no cost.  With the many submitted camper applications, and the limited available space, we perform an extensive screening process and require a $50 reservation deposit. This deposit is simply to reserve your childs place and is returned to you at the completion of camp.
2012 Kids Kamp will be on our schedule soon! Volunteers should be of good physical condition and at least 21 years of age. Current volunteers will be mailed an application. Applications for participants and volunteers are available at our main office (1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, Colorado) Applications continue to be accepted from both interested volunteers and children wishing to attend the camp.
